What are Buyer's Commission Rebates?

A Buyer's Commission Rebate is a "non-taxable" gift given by a Principal Broker to a buyer in a real estate transaction that uses their company's services to purchase property.

Because the Broker does not have to pay another real estate agency, the money that is saved as a result of using only one agent can be refunded to the buyer in the form of a Buyer's Commission Rebate.

This rebate may be used to reduce the price of the home, for closing cost, moving expenses, appliances, painting, carpet or any other home improvements. You may even get cash back. How you use the rebate may be subject to your lender's approval. (Commission Rebates are so new, not all lenders nor Realtors, in this region are aware of this new way of cutting the cost of buying a home.)

Rebates are legal in the state of Arkansas and are even recommended by the Federal Government to help buyers save money. For more information about Commission Rebates, go to the Department of Justice Web site or just click on the following link: http://www.justice.gov/atr/public/real_estate/rebates.htm

Example:

Buyer purchases a home for $150,000.

1% Commission Rebate equals $1,500.00

Offers subject to change without notice.
